Home Sweet Home

I know we all have precious memories of Christmases in our homes. Lin inspired me with several of her cards using these stamps. Thank you Lin.

May your Christmas be one of precious time with family and friends and celebrating the birth of Jesus!

Thank you for stopping by and looking.

I used Distress Ink to create the skyline behind the houses. I masked the houses and then stamped the trees. The picket fence is a border punch. The snowflakes above the tress is also a punch. I have a pop dot behind them with glitter on the flakes. I used Ranger Stickles for the snow on the houses and along the fence.

Supplies:
Houses: Hero Arts CL464 Sending Holiday Cheer
Trees: Hero Arts CL464
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL543
Copic Markers for the houses

Thought for the Day
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Got a little inspiration for this from the Hero Arts Pool on Flickr - Made by Marion. Love the work that is shared there. So I thought I would share with you another "nontradional" stamp for a Christmas card - butterflies.

Thank You For Looking!

Supplies:
Sizzix/Hero Arts 657769 (Stamp & Embossing Folder)
Nestabilities: Labels 14
Background Stamp on Label: HA S5507 (Envelope Pattern)
Sentiment: HA CL113 Merriest Wishes

Merry Christmas Poppies

Thought I would try a stamp that you do not ordinarily associate with Christmas. I love poppies but just do not seem to get them to grow in this neck of the woods.

Here is my version of one of the sketch challenges for Hero Arts for December.

Thank you for looking.

I stamped the flower twice and cut out the largest poppy to "pop" over the background poppy stamp.

Supplies:
Flower Stamp: Hero Arts CL449 Delicate Blossoms
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL543 Very Merry Christmas
Nestabilities: Labels 14
Copic Markers

Thought For The Day:
“Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” Deuteronomy 4:9 (NIV)

Merry Christmas Owl

I remember when owls were the "item" to use to decorate your home. I LOVED them then and I still do. I had them everywhere - on the wall, in the cabinet, on my fireplace - hoots, hoots everywhere!  So I thought it only fitting that I would use this cute little fellow that Hero Arts uses often also :-)

Thank you for stopping by.

I am entering this one in the Hero Arts Sketch Challenge for December.

Supplies:
Owl: Hero Arts CL238 - paper pieced his vest and colored with copics
Pine Cone Wreath: Hero Arts CG374 - colored with copics
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL238
Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Circles
Bow: Red/White Baker's Twine

Thought for the day:

Merriest Wishes

I have been making lots of Christmas Cards but wanted to highlight this one because I am entering it into the December Hero Arts Sketch Challenge. I will be uploading some of the many others I have done later.

'Tis the Season :-) Thank you so much for stopping by.

I used non-tradional colors for my background. I changed up the sketch just a little by reversing the placement of the sentiment and flipping the scalloped edge and making the scalloped edge my embossing.

The snowflakes around the tree are a tiny punch I have. I added a little bling to highlight them. The background on the circle is Hero Hues Cerulean.

Supplies:
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL543
Tree: Hero Arts CL540
Deer: Sizzix/Hero Arts 657780

Thought for the Day:

"That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:3 (NIV)

Owl Thinking Of You

I may be getting the hang of these window cards. Here is another one I finished today. Love this little owl. Just got him a couple of days ago.

Thank you for looking :)

Hero Arts Pumpkins: Large G5269, Medium F5270, Small CL466 - Used Dotted Papers from Paper Trey Ink

Owl & Limb: HA CL416

Added leaves to the Large & Medium pumpkins using HA CL466 so they would look like the small one.

Paper Pieced the leaves on the branch to give some color to it.

Glossy Accents on that cute little owl and some funny eyes :-)

Thought For The Day:

they were my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty."

You Are A Great Friend

I watched Lucy's video today on the Hero Arts Blog and got up the courage to try another window card. I had made a couple during the Summer Card Camp after watching Jennifer's video. This is probably the most challenging thing that I do with cards. It does not come easy for me. So here is the result.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

I cut the opening using a Spellbinder Nestabilities oval and then cut it again on some dotted paper from Paper Trey Ink using two of the ovals to make the frame.

The background is Hero Arts S5447 Large Plaid Pattern stamped in Hero Hues Poppy.

I used Hero Arts CG251 Small Solid Flower and stamped over the background using Tim Holtz Distress Inks Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, and Barn Door. That is a first for me too and I really like the results.

There is some bling on the flower centers.

I used some pattern paper on the inside of the card to tone down the starkness of the white and stamped the sentiment which is an old one I have of Hero Arts CL 184 Sayings and Quotes.

I am pretty pleased with the results but it sure took me a while :-)

Thought For The Day:
"You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand. "

Fall Birthday Wishes

We are so thankful for the showers that we received over the weekend. I know there are places that are still suffering and my prayer is that you receive rain soon. It feels really fallish outside this a.m. I finished this card this weekend and went outside to take a picture of it and loved the coolness of the morning.

I used the Hero Arts K5314 Sillouette Fern with Color Box Sweet Melon and Lemon Grass Ink as the background. The flowers are Hero Arts CL495 Blossom Art and H5481 Classic Bloom.  Colored them with Copics and added some Glossy Accents to the centers.
Sentiment is Hero Arts CL287.
Made my own picket fence and used a MS Butterfly Punch. A little bling on the butterflies.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by!

Thought For The Day:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

Smiles, Laughter and Hugs

Sharing another card for today. I am on a roll :-) I have had this stamp for a while and had not inked it up. Had fun paper piecing it. I tried to use as many of the colors as I could for the September Challenge at Hero Arts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamped Hero Arts S5506 on Kraft paper and then had fun paper piecing the flowers from my stash of patterned papers.

Fall Is In The Air

Amazing - we have had two consecutive days of cooler mornings! Does that mean, is it possible that my favorite time of year is around the corner? Sure hope so.

Here is another take on the September Challenge at Hero Arts using fall colors. We will be leaving in a couple of weeks for a vacation to Maine and hope we will be seeing some significant color change there :-)

The background is Hero Arts S5473 Daisy Reverse Pattern. I used a fairly new color with Color Box called Boysenberry - I love it's rich color!
I layered a new set I got from Spellbinders Nestabilities - Labels 14. Love them too.
My flower stamp is an older Hero Arts K5185 Wallpaper Flowers that I have not used in a while. Used some fall colors on them and add a little bling.
Sentiment is Hero Arts CL140 Thinking of you set.
And my favorite MS Butterfly punch!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Thought for the Day:

It's Been A While

Not sure where the time has gone but I haven't had too much time to work on any cards. I got this new set of sentiments from Hero Arts and couldn't wait to do something with it. Here is what I came up with.

Flowers and Leaves: Hero Arts CL495 (Blossom Art)
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL491 (Made With Love)
Background is some patterned paper that I have had for a while.
Made the fence by cutting strips of paper from Authentique Paper Collection "Splendid". Thought the wood grain effect worked perfectly.
Butterflies are from one of my favorite MS punches.
A little bling and glossy accents

Hope wherever you are that you are experiencing a little cooler weather. We have had a slight change in the weather the last couple of days here in the south. Don't know how long it will last but I sure am enjoying it!

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Thought for the Day:
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Happy Giraffe

My last post for today.
As I posted earlier I have been doing a bible study with some precious women on the Book of James. I have been making cards to send to them and haven't had time to make anything to share on any of the group sites.  Thanks for taking a peek :-) at some of the cards I posted today.

My little Happy Giraffe - Penny Black 3839J. He is one of many Penny Black animals that I have to play with. Sentiment is Stampendous Happy Messages SSC109. He is colored with copics.

Thought for the day:
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus
Philppians 2:5

Butterflies and You

Used the Prismacolors on this one too. The stamp is Hero Arts and sentiment is Hero Arts CL434. Martha Stewart punch.

As always I appreciate you taking the time to stop by!
Blessings to you.

Thought for the Day:
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
Proverbs 4:23

Friend

For a change I used a new set of Prismacolors that Michael's had on sale. (Too good to pass up). The Flower and leaf are Hero Arts CL495. Sentiment from Stampendous Happy Messages SSC109 (I am really loving this set of sentments). Butterflies are Martha Stewart punch.

Thanks so much for looking!!

Sweet Little Elephant

Isn't he a cutie!!!!

This little fellow is from Stampendous also. He is a cling stamp CRP117. Used copics with this one too. The Sentiment is from Stampendous Happy Messages SSC109. You can't see it in the photo but I have slightly distressed the edges in blue and he has Glossy Accents on his balloons. Such a cutie!
Thanks for stopping by!

Mimi and Her Car

Here she is again in her car! Colored with copics. The background is a technique I learned in the Summer Card Camp with Jennifer McGuire. An embossing folder is stamped in your choice of ink and then your paper is inserted and run through your embossing machine. I used a Cuttlebug Folder and Cuttlebug Embossing Machine. The balloons are from Stampendous and the little bird is an Inkadoo stamp. Used Glossy Accents on the balloons and parts of that cute car.

My Friend

I have been teaching a bible study for the past three weeks and have not had as much time to make cards to share. I have been sending them to the sweet, sweet ladies who are doing this study with me. Such a blessing to be in study with women who love the Lord.

Here are a few cards I have done with some new stamps that I have gotten. I found a really great website that has some good prices on stamps. You might want to check it out ABC Toys and Crafts. Last week they were having a 25% off.

Thank you for stopping by and looking!

One of my favorite Penny Black characters "Mimi". This one is called Easy Rider 4086H. She is colored with copics and the background on her is Distress Inks. Sentiment is Stampendous "Happy Messages" SSC109.

Thank you for stopping by and looking.
Thought for the Day:
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around

Friends

Today is our last day of Summer Card Camp. That is somewhat sad because not only have I learned so much from Jennifer and Kristina I have met many new friends through the Student Gallery. To those of you who took the time to stop by my blog and leave such sweet comments - THANK YOU!

I thought my card today "Friends" was appropriate for what this camp has meant to me. May you be blessed in our your endeavors - especially card making since I believe it is an act of love -the fact that you would take the time to make a card to send to someone and not buy one :-)

Here are the colors for this week:

Stamp: Penny Black 4054K gentlest kiss
Colored with copics
Background: Distress Inks
Sentiment: HA CL305

The message on the inside says "You have a way of bringing out the best in everyone by your caring and the interest that you take in all you do. You are such a special person."

That's the way I feel about all of you that have been a part of this fantastic Summer Card Camp!

Remember Your First Bike?

I recently purchased this Hero Arts Bicycle stamp and wasn't really sure what I was going to do with it. Turns out it has been fun to work with. I remember my first bike and it was similar to this. I think I had a basket too but trust me there were no flowers in it!

Riding a bike is fun and my husband and I started back riding last spring. He actually got himself one of those road bikes with the skinny tires :-) I have something similar and I really like how the gears assist you in riding - but wasn't it just so much more fun on the older bikes with the big FAT seats and big fat tires :-) Just reminiscing.

Week 4 Summer Card Camp colors.

Thank you for stopping by! Did your first bike look like this?

Stamp: Hero Arts Wood Stamp Bicycle F5293
Bicycle was stamped with Hero Hues Cerulean and Grass

By The Way - did you put cardboard flaps in your spokes with clothes pins? I think I am really showing my age :-)
Be Blessed and Have a Great Day!

Love This Car

I am having so much fun with the colors this week at Summer Card Camp. I am pulling out stamps I have not used in a while and loving what I can do with them. Haven't tried Jennifer's letterpress technique but I sure want to try sometime this week. Again thanks Jennifer and Kristina!

Here are our colors:

Bunches of Sunshine

Summer Card Camp Week 3
This will probably be my last card for the week. Was hoping to try the "finger inking" but looks like my time is going to run out on me. Again, thanks so much to Jennifer and Kristina for their mentoring us through the past 3 weeks. It has been great!

Here are our colors for this week.

And here is my card:

Feel Better Thoughts

Starting off a new week for Summer Card Camp. This is my first card for this week. Lots of browns in this weeks challenge and can I say that I don't do brown well - not in clothes and not on cards :-)
So here's my first take on it. I have seen so many beautiful cards in this weeks Student Gallery so maybe I can get some inspiration from there.  Thank you for stopping by!

The large background is some patterned paper I have from Paper Studio.
The background for the bird is HA CG119 using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo.
Bird Stamp is Stampabilities Cherry Blossom Bird KR1061.

I know Cherry Blossoms are pink but for the sake of this card they are now red :-)
I don't know what kind of sweet little bird this is either but for the sake of this card he looks pretty good in red :-)

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by!

Thought for the Day

Last Card for Week 2

Camp has been so much fun! Again many thanks to Jennifer and Kristina for hosting!
Here are our colors for this week and then we were given additional ones on Friday, however, I'm thinking when you look at mine I threw in a color that is not on any of the combinations :-) Oh well, Enjoy!

Here is my last card for week 2 of Summer Camp. Thanks for stopping by!

I am sending this to a dear sweet lady in our church who recently had surgery. Please pray for her. She is 86 years old.

Just got this large wood flower stamp at Michael's and have loved using it. I had the smaller version in a clear set. Trying to use summer colors and was real pleased with the outcome.

Summer Card Camp Week 2

This is the end of our second week at "camp". I am thoroughly enjoying the color schemes - which have definitely challenged me at times! Thanks so much to Jennifer and Kristina for all the time they have put into preparing for this class.

Here's my last entry for this week and I chose a color combo from Friday which I do not use very often even though two of the colors are my Alma Mater's - UGA - Go DAWGS! I love college football and I am a huge fan of SEC Football. During the fall of the year you will definitely find me and my husband in front of the TV on Saturdays from noon until. Who is your favorite college football team?

The colors are yellow, red, black and 2 shades of gray. So here it is. Very simple but I sure struggled with the yellow and the gray! At least the red and black go with all my Georgia stuff in our play room :-) The background paper on the sentiment is gray but the flash on my camera faded it out so that it looks white. :-(

Cuttlebug embossing on the red.
HA background: S5507 Envelope
HA Sentiment: CL 434
Penny Black: Flower 4160K (I have enjoyed this stamp so much)

Thank you for stopping by!

Thought for the Day:

Sweet Birthday Wishes

Here is my second card for Week 2 of Summer Card Camp. For some reason I really struggled getting the red on as part of this weeks colors. I think it was because I started using so much of the orange and yellow that I thought the red would look really strange. The red check paper is darker than it looks in the picture. But here it is and I am pleased with the result. This is also one of the rare occasions when I do embossing. Another technique that I need to practice on.

Enough of all that :-) Thanks so much for stopping by!

Here are the colors we are working with this week:

My card using this combo:

Tropic Birthday

Here's my take on the colors for Week 2 of Summer Card Camp. I am so enjoying the color challenges because it makes it so much easier and faster for me when I know the I colors that I am going to use. This one was fun and went together fairly quickly. It is going to be a birthday card  for my sister-in-law.

Thanks Jennifer and Kristina for mentoring us.

The background is a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Kites & Clouds: HA CL445 - I used embroidery floss for the tail

Summer Card Camp 2011 Week 1

Such fun participating in this online card class.  Making me stretch my imagination!

5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Thought For The Day

Summer Card Camp 2011 Week 1

I am so excited to be a part of this online card class. It is being hosted by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. Our first color challenge is warm shades of purple, pink and orange alongside a sky blue and white.

I was excited about the colors but not sure how I was going to use pink with the orange and purple. However, I was very pleased with how this turned out.

The background is embossed resist (which is the first time I have tried that). I used HA CG19 and the background is Tim Holtz Distress Ink Broken China.

I used lots of patterned papers for the flower and panel.
HA CL496 Flower/Leaves
HA CL150 Sentiment

Border punch is EK

White enamel accents on the flower.
The center is raised with a pop dot to give dimension.
