CAS-ual Fridays

Here is my first entry ever to CAS-ual Fridays.

Black & White

This week we are to create a Clean and Simple Project that is only black and white.

So here is my entry:

I used the Hero Arts H5554 Patterned Heart and stamp it twice on white paper with black opaque embossing powder and then once on black paper with white opaque embossing powder. The sentiment is also from Hero Arts CL310.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thought for the day:
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

From My Heart to Yours

Thank you so much for stopping by!

More cards from my Clean and Simple Card Making Class. Today is the last day and it has truly been fun and inspirational.

Background: Hero Arts CG 422 Zig Zag embossed with white embossing powder
Heart: Sizzix 654983 Tipsy hearts (I have used these so many times!)
Flowers from Michael's $1 bin (Love those kind of deals!)

This was so easy and I thought it turned out rather well :)
Paper Studio Embossing Folder
Embossed again in red and cut out the single heart and "popped" on the front.

I am doing a study with a group of ladies at church on Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. So I have another quote from her today:

"Being thankful is part of praise and worship. . . Think less and Thank more."

Some More Clean and Simple

I guess my mojo was flowing pretty good this afternoon for a change. Here are a couple of more cards that I considered Clean and Simple. They went together really fast.

I bought a bag of chipboards at Michael's the other day. I hardly every use them but when I found this "LOVE" in the package I thought it might come in handy with the Valentine's cards I am making.

The hearts were embossed using my dotted folder from Cuttlebug.
Supplies:
Sizzix Tipsy Hearts 654983 (Comes in a set of 3 and I used the smallest one)

Card #2.
Supplies:
Printed Paper: Recollections
Sizzix Tipsy Hearts 654983 (Used the largest one on this card)
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL310
Stamp: Hero Arts LP032 (paper pieced)

Thanks again for stopping by :)

Quote for the Day:
Joyce Meyer
"It's easy to quit; it takes faith to go through."

Pink Butterfly Trail

Loving the ideas and techniques that I am learning with Clean and Simple Card Making class. The ladies are making me think outside of the box and there is so much inspiration from other class members. Here is my latest card.

And as always thank you for stopping by - it always makes my day :)

The background paper is from Lost & Found - Market Street.
The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and I used Jennifer's technique of stamping 6 in white, layering and then stamping the pink and layering to give a chipboard effect.
Some glossy accents on the small punched hearts.
Sentiment: Hero Arts CG156 Hugs and Kisses Birds

Thought For The Day:
"And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint." Galatians 6:9

Happy Valentine's Day

Loving the Clean and Simple Card Making Class.

One of our challenges is to use a white background. The flower looks off center but the front is open slightly so that you could hopefully see that there is an opening to frame the flower. Not sure that you can tell that from the photo.

As always - thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and look :) Happy Card Making!

Stamp: Hero Arts CG291 (3 Dotted flowers) - I stamped them on red paper and cut them out and layered them with pop dots to give them some dimension which you cannot really see in the photo. I also have the edges curled.

The opening is created with Spellbinders Scallop Circles Large

Background: Cuttlebug embossing folder

Sentiment is computer generated since all of my stamps were too large to go across the bottom and leave some white space :)

You Have The Key To My Heart

I used  Jennifer's concept of "watercolor blocking" technique in our Clean and Simple Card Making Class again only I did not use distress inks or the watercolor paper so I guess I just used her "blocking" technique :) I was much happier with the result of my background. The next time I will add more colors to the background but I was trying to use colors in the Hero Arts Challenge for January.

So here is my card. Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Hearts: Hero Arts CG426, Hero Arts E3907 (an older rubber stamp) - all embossed with white opaque embossing powder.
Background Ink: Hero Hues Chalk Ink Iris and Punch
Sentiment and Key: Hero Arts CL276
Wrapped twine around the hearts and added a little bling :)

Thought for the day:
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciple indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31-32

It's Not Always What You Think

So - in today's Clean and Simple Card Making Class, Jennifer McGuire demonstrated how to use distress inks with water on watercolor paper. It was amazing. I am such a visual learner. My thoughts were that I would emboss a heart on regular paper and then create a background with similar shapes as demonstrated but without using distress inks or water :) I am not sure why ideas look so good in my head but when I actual try them they are somewhat different.
My plans were to use the colors in this months Hero Arts challenge but using Jennifer's technique. Let's just say it was a good idea BUT here is my card and it's okay - but long story short my shapes never would develop - even using a square stamp - so I simply made a "swirly" background. The rest is history. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

That wonderful background :) is ColorBox Boysenberry, Pink, and Cranberry.
Heart: Hero Arts CG426
Heart is heat embossed with opaque white, did some fussy cutting around it (waiting for the matching Hero Arts die to come out)
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL283
Bakers Twine
Bronze bling

Looks kinda psychedelic huh? Remember all the tie-dye stuff? That was fun.

Thought for the day:
My thought for the day is from Lysa Terkeurst who is a part of Proverbs31 Ministries:
"Exchange whispers with God before shouts with the world."
Thought it was worth repeating :)

Love Always

I really enjoyed Day 3 of our Clean and Simple Card Making Class. Love what Jennifer McGuire did with the die and the layering. I do not have many dies but I just got this one in the mail and was so excited because I thought I could use it.
I took Jennifer's suggestion about using white on white so here is my version of today's video.

Supplies:
Sizzix embossing folder
Sizzix/Hero Arts Stamp and Die Cut 657851
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL310
Heart Punches

I did not use the 6 layers that she demonstrated. I had some really thick card stock so I only used 3 layers and was happy with the effect.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thought for the day:

Don't Know Why Simple Is So Hard

Thoroughly enjoying all the inspiration over at Clean and Simple Card Making BUT sometime simple is so hard for me - and that includes a lot of areas other than card making :)
Here is what I was able to do today after watching Julie Ebersole's video. We are working on "perfectly flat" cards.

Thank you for stopping by!
Supplies:
Flower Stamp and Leaf: Hero Arts CL450; stamped with ColorBox Ink Cranberry and Moss Green
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL520

Thought for the day:
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from you lips. Colossians 3:8

More Clean and Simple

Here are two more cards that I was able to make this afternoon for the Clean & Simple Cardmaking Class. Looking forward to what the ladies have in store for us tomorrow!

I really struggled with getting a clean mask on this so I opted to stamp the entire background and layer papers over it.
Background stamp: Hero Arts S6473 Daisy Reverse Pattern stamped with Hero Arts Chalk Ink Cerulean.
Apple: It is an old Stampabilities Green Apple D1197. I stamped on patterned papers and cut out.
Sentiment: Hero Arts CL140

This last one is truly simple :)

Obviously, I did not use a background. The stamp is by PrintWorks. I could not find a name or number for it. I have used it many times and love it. It is colored with Prismacolors.
Sentiment is Hero Arts CL140
I made the border with dots and dashes.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by :)

Clean and Simple

Today is the first day of the online card class Clean&Simple Cardmaking. Sometimes clean and simple is not always easy for me. But here is my first entry. After spending way to much time thinking about this one, I know exactly what I will do for the next one. I guess once I get my mind going in the right direction it doesn't take as long.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

The heart is one of my new Sizzix dies and the sentiment is Hero Arts CL140.

Now that I am thinking about it, I may enter this for the January Challenge on the Hero Arts Blog.

Thought for the day:

Butterfly Kisses

When my mojo is flowing, I have to create. So here is another window card I have made for Valentines.
Thanks for stopping by!

I used lots of patterned papers on the inside and outside of the card.
The window was created with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Nine.
Butterflies: Hero Arts CL383 stamped on pink patterned paper and kraft.
Pink bling on the kraft butterfly and brown bling on the pink butterfly.
Punch hearts for the butterfly trail
Sentiment: Hugs and Kisses - Hero Arts CL310 (an older stamp)
Sentiment: Happy Valentine's Day - Hero Arts CG 155

Thought For The Day:
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ . To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen

Hugs N Kisses

Playing around with some of my stamps and stuff and came up with this for another Valentine's card.

Thank you for stopping by!

Below is the inside of the card.
Front of the card background is from some of my patterned papers and I don't have a clue who the company is. I created the window using Spellbinders Labels 9. On the inside I stamped the birds and used patterned papers for their bodies. Glossy Accents on their wings and the hearts.

It was fun - hope you enjoy it!

Supplies:
Birds & Sentiments - Hero Arts CG155
Framing on front: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 9

Thought for the day:
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
