Love U

The Play Date Cafe Challenge is all about cobalt, goldenrod and peony!

Here is my take on it. I really struggled with an idea and the colors but it turned out a lot better than I thought. The photo is not nearly as clear and sharp as it is when I am able to take the picture outside.

You can't tell from the photo but there is Glossy Accents on the hearts.

Happy Birthday Cone

I saw this button challenge on Lin's blog that she is participating in so thought I would give it a try.

This is for The Ribbon Reel Challenge "Button It".

The ice cream cone was made from two different templates I found on line. I ran the top and bottom through a Spellbinders M-Bossabilities ES-006 (Hexagons on one side and zig zag on the other.)

Believe it or not I found these cute buttons at Walmart :)

The sentiment is Hero Arts CL139. I use it a lot because it just the right size for small sliders. The slider is one of four in a set by Cuttlebug (37-1215 Sliders).

Since I do not have any hexagon dies or stamps, I went online and found some templates here. I also decided I wanted to use gingham paper and believe it or not I did not have the color I wanted so I remembered that I had downloaded some free digi gingham papers some time back. So - - - I printed some gingham papers and then ran them through the printer with the hexagon template. 


I also found a template for the heart online here.


The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and the sentiment is Hero Arts CL129.


I am going to enter this in the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Back in Black also.

I have been taking an online card class but have not been able to get my mojo going in the direction of the the class techniques. I find it difficult to be creative when I HAVE to be creative :) So I have just backed off and pulled out stamps and started stamping and here are a couple of them.

Lattice-Stretch Your Stamps

Today is the first day of our online class Stretch Your Stamps.

Lots of inspiration, tips and examples. I was somewhat overwhelmed at first :)

I was inspired by Lisa Carroll's card here:




Here is my card using the Lattice stamp to create my background.Stamped this on printed paper and white embossed.I stamped the Lattice again on yellow paper with blue embossing. I used My Favorite Things Flower Trio and Leaf Trio die for my flowers.  The sentiment actually says Just Saying Hello but I cut it so that I could use "hello".

Hootie Owls

I love Hootie Owls :) Back in the 70s I use to collect them. They were EVERYWHERE  in my house. As a lot of things do, they seem to fade away so I do not have them any longer. However, I am still very partial to them and I see them springing up along and along.

So here is another take on the July Hero Arts Challenge using neon colors with my cute little owls and these more than cute wiggly eyes with eyelashes! Just love them - found them at Michaels.

Shells, Shells, Shells

One of the things I enjoy most about the beach is walking in the early morning to see what wonders God has washed up on the shore. We generally go to Fernandina Beach and one of the items that most people are looking for there is shark teeth. When we first started going in the early 90s, it seems they were much easier to find and larger :) However, with changes to the shoreline and dredging that is done they seem to be smaller and much more difficult to find but it is still the "thing" to do there.

So here are my treasures :)




On this last visit however I became somewhat mesmerized with the shells ~ the colors, the shapes and the brokenness of them.

So when I saw that part of the July Hero Arts Challenge was Summer Adventures, I decided to share this since it is something I truly enjoy when we are at the beach.

Travel Inspiration

Hero Arts July Challenge consists of Summer Adventures, color challenge, and/or creating paper flowers. While we were at the beach the end of June there were several wall hangings in the condo that we rented that remind me of the beach atmosphere.  Here is one of the wall hangings:
